Alessandro Bianchi, new General Manager of Pirelli HangarBicocca
Alessandro Bianchi will oversee the management of Pirelli HangarBicocca, working closely with the Artistic Director Vicente Todolí and the institution’s entire team.



MILAN.- From March 2nd, 2020, Alessandro Bianchi will be the General Manager of Pirelli HangarBicocca. His appointment follows the six-year tenure of Marco Lanata, who will retain his role as Real Estate Management Director for the Pirelli Group.

With many years’ experience in a number of important cultural institutions, Alessandro Bianchi will oversee the management of Pirelli HangarBicocca, working closely with the Artistic Director Vicente Todolí and the institution’s entire team.

Alessandro Bianchi (Turin, 1976), holds a BA in Philosophy and a Masters in Management of Cultural Heritage. He was General Secretary of Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo from 2002 to 2009 – coordinating the 2005 and 2008 editions of the Turin Triennale of contemporary art during this time. From 2009 to 2013, he served as Executive Director of Fondazione MAXXI - Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo – and from 2009 was also Director of Fondazione Capri. Over the last seven years, he has played a pivotal role in the development of numerous cultural institutions, acting as Senior Advisor: Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli (Milan), Teatro Regio (Turin), Teatro Comunale (Bologna), Fondazione Nazionale per la Danza (Reggio Emilia), and Fondazione per la Cultura (Turin). He is a professor and lecturer at several international Universities, including the Rome Business School and the University of Milan.

Pirelli HangarBicocca is a non-profit institution dedicated to the promotion and production of contemporary art, reflecting the business culture of Pirelli and its commitment to the research, innovation and diffusion of the languages of contemporary art. With its vast program, Pirelli HangarBicocca presents major solo shows by the most relevant international artists distinguishing themselves for research and experimentation in their works. It also holds a broad spectrum of cultural events and thematic focuses. Admission to the space and the shows is completely free of charge.
