LILLE, FRANCE.- Maison de la Photographie du Nord-pas-de-Calais presents Indianscope - "L'Inde intemporelle dans l'Inde d'aujourd'hui" - "Timeless India in today's India", on view through January 14th 2007. This exhibition is curated by Laura Serani within the lille3000 cultural season, and organized by the Maison de la Photographie du Nord-pas-de-Calais.
"Impossible to escape from the call of India, single country as wide as a continent, with such a strong and precise identity, that has become a great source of influence for our culture: philosophy, literature, cinema, music, fashion and lifestyles...
Always attracted and seduced by the grace and omnipresence of spirituality, by bunches of colours and the explosion of life, many photographs have contributed to bring to the world images from this country of legends and paradoxes. Some of them, less sensitive to the classical representation of the Indian scenery, brought back from their journey a more personal and poetic work. Others chose to show the reality, in the tradition of photojournalism.
As a result, the exhibition tries to grasp a vision of India as viewed by great photographers, such as Edouard Boubat, Henri Cartier Bresson, Marie Laure de Decker, Max Pam, Raghu Rai, Marc Riboud, Sébastiao Salgado, Tomasz Gudzowaty..."
Collective exhibition, with 28 authors and more than 160 images. (Among them 45 from the collection of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris).
