Massive Change and the City in Chicago |

CHICAGO, IL.- In celebration of the Massive Change: The Future of Global Design exhibition, the MCA joins the City of Chicago Department of Environment to host a one-day symposium, Massive Change and the City, to discuss the impact of urban life on the world. Presenting conversations between leading social and environmental visionaries, the event is hosted by Bruce Mau, Massive Change guest curator, and WTTW's John Callaway. Five conversations with Chicago area environmental and social visionaries take place throughout the day:
Stewart Brand, futurist and author of the Whole Earth Catalog; Gunter Pauli, founder and director of Zero Emissions Research Initiative of the United Nations University in Tokyo; Reginald R. Modlin, JD, Director of Environmental Affairs for DaimlerChrysler Corporation; Dayna Baumeister, cofounder of the Biomimicry Guild; John Todd, biologist and leader in the field of ecological design; Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia; Mary Czerwinski, cognitive psychologist and principal researcher at Microsoft; Hazel Henderson, evolutionary economist and syndicated columnist; Gregg Easterbrook, senior editor of The New Republic and author of The Progress Paradox: How Life Gets Better While People Feel Worse.
The event will take place Saturday, November 18, 2006, 10 am - 5:30 pm at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 East Randolph. $100, $75 for MCA members.
