| Burning of Erotic Turner Paintings Did Not Take Place |
JMW Turner, Self portrait, age 24.
LONDON, UK.- Turner expert Ian Warrell stated he is convinced there was no bonfire in 1958 of erotic paintngs by JMW Turner by the critic John Ruskin. Warrell claims that Rusking actually buried them in paper. The hundreds of allegedly missing drawings appear to be safely in the Tate collection.
Ian Warrell stated, "There are a few very small gaps in the notebooks, but Ruskin sometimes tore some sheets out for display, and there are some losses due to ancient damage, but I am now pretty convinced there is no substantial gap in the collection."
