HOWARTH, WEST YORKSHIRE, UK.- The Brontë Parsonage Museum has acquired a circular portrait of Charlotte Bronte which will be on view in February.
Alan Bentley, director of the museum, said the work was probably painted in 1843. He said, "It's different from the later portraits of her, which were the equivalent of today's publicity photo graphs. They certainly were not warts and all portraits. The Law collection disappeared. It consisted mainly of letters and manuscripts and that part was catalogued. But we also know there were objects, which the Laws were not particularly interested in."
