NEW YORK, NY.- Sotheby’s has developed and launched an App that is now available on the New Apple TV device via the tvOS operating system. The Sotheby’s App is available to users in eighty countries and offers an array of ways to go inside the world of art and luxury via the platform that has been dubbed ‘the future of TV.’ The broad range of video content ranges from HD streams of top auctions to videos focusing on the worlds most prized works of art, and insights from Sotheby’s experts. The app’s debut auction will be ‘Driven By Disruption’ – a sale of 31 automobiles that showcases the extremes of motoring history - taking place on 10 December in New York.

The introduction of the app comes as part of a new online strategy that has seen Sotheby’s rapidly expand its digital offerings, instigate collaborations with market leaders in the online space; the introduction of live online sales; a five-fold increase in editorial content; and production of multiple videos each day.

“Sotheby’s is engaging more people, in more ways, than ever before.” Commented David Goodman, Sotheby’s EVP, Digital Development and Marketing, “The launch of our Apple TV App as well as the roll-out of our digital program helps us realise our ambition to be relevant to both current and potential clients every day, regardless of whether a sale or exhibition is taking place. We have already seen tremendous results, with astonishing growth in online participation translating to a massive increase in online buyers in our sales.”

Through the Sotheby’s App users will be able to experience the art world as never before via five channels -

• Artists: Videos that expose the world and experience of the artist.

• Legendary Auctions: A vault of Sotheby’s auction highlights and memorable sales.

• Luxury Goods: Videos that look in-depth at Jewelry, Watches, Wine, Cars, and Design.
