Complete set of original lithographs by Henri Matisse on view at Eames Fine Art
Henri Matisse, original lithographs made in 1954, after his colour-cut outs. Published in 1958.
LONDON.- Eames Fine Art presents an exhibition of the 1954 lithographs by Henri Matisse. Bringing together the complete set of original lithographs created in 1954, the exhibition presents an exciting chance to acquire one of these iconic and rare works, and to see the complete set of lithographs displayed together. Prices start at £350 and all works are for sale at under £1,000.

In the years preceding his death in 1954, and when ill health prevented him from painting, Matisse created many innovative, bold gouache paper cut-outs. In 1953-54 he worked with renowned lithographer Fernand Mourlot to reinterpret these works as lithographs.

To coincide with Tate Modern’s dazzling exhibition of cut-outs, Eames Fine Art present the complete set of 40 lithographs from 1954. These vibrant, joyful works are even more startling when considered against the backdrop of Matisse’s failing health.

‘We are thrilled to be exhibiting the complete set of these lithographs. They were one of the last projects Matisse worked on and yet so full of life and joy. This is a beautiful yet poignant exhibition which will be of interest to any collector. ’ - Vincent Eames, Director.
