Scholastic Art Gold And Silver Key Winners' Work Displayed at Cheekwood



NASHVILLE, TN.- Over seventy Middle Tennessee art students took home Gold Key medals in the most recent Scholastic Art Awards competition, on display in Cheekwood’s Museum of Art through February 24.

Five students, Julia Denison of Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet School, Jennifer Grant of Ravenwood High School, Kelsey Hoffman of University School of Nashville, Dan Hood of Ravenwood High School, and Devon Malick of Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet School each received an American Vision Award nomination. One of the five will be chosen as a national finalist in the American Vision Award competition to be held in New York.

Artworks by Middle Tennessee’s Gold Key award-winners will go on to be judged by the national panel in New York. An awards celebration will be held at Carnegie Hall in June with the winning artists’ works displayed at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

Students from Middle Tennessee submitted more than 800 entries in the regional competition which was judged at Cheekwood. The Scholastic Art Awards are the oldest continuously run art competition in the nation. The regional portion is sponsored by The Tennessee Credit Union and Cheekwood.

A reception for the Gold and Silver Key winners will be held in Massey Auditorium at Cheekwood on Sunday, January 27. The Awards Ceremony will be held for Group I (Grades 7-8) from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm and for Group II (Grades 9-12) from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
