Swedish Ertist Hans Johansson Featured at Broadway Gallery

NEW YORK CITY.-Broadway Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of works by Swedish artist Hans Johansson. The artist was born in the northern part of Sweden near the Arctic Circle, where the northern light plays an important role in the lives of its inhabitants; the influence of this environment is evident in Johansson’s oeuvre. The artist combines both figurative and non-figurative elements with his love of strong lines and vivid colors to create bold, poetic works.

The paintings in this exhibition were made during the last two years. The faces in close-up are inspired by encounters with different people, but they also reflect the various expressions that can be found in the human face, as well as the several faces that modernity requires us to wear. In addition, Johansson incorporates his dreams into his art as a means of self-expression, resulting in works that have a timeless, magical quality. His pictures are deeply personal evoking his own subconscious while also revealing universal truths about the journey and celebration that is life.

The exhibition will be held from January 1st through the 15th, 2008 at Broadway Gallery NYC, and the Opening Reception will be on Friday, January 4th between 6-8PM. For more information on this exhibition please call us at 212-274-8993 or visit us online at www.broadwaygallerynyc.com.
