MILAN, ITALY.-Forma International Centre for Photography in Milan presents the exhibition Life. For the entire 20th century, LIFE photographers have illustrated with their images every aspect of human life. To view life, to view the world: this was the motto printed in the first issue of LIFE. And actually, LIFE photographers, with their unmistakable style, set a milestone in the way of understanding, viewing and explaining reality through images.
The exhibition scheduled at Forma from 19 April till 29 August 2006 features the best in LIFE photography. An impressive group of 140 photographs specially selected for this show, including some of the best known pictures taken by LIFE photographers such as Eisenstaedt, Bourke-Whitre, Mydans, Parks, W. Eugene Smith, Robert Capa. The exhibition is also a tribute to the talent, creativity and courage of these masters of photojournalism.
Beside this major retrospective show, there will be a smaller, but very precious selection of vintage prints of Life photographers. This second show will open on the same day in Forma white room.
Used in LIFE: this stamp was put on the verso of each print actually published in LIFE magazine, and this is the title of the exhibtion, which features a selection of vintage prints, used between the Thirties and the Fifties.
