NEW YORK, NY.- The gallery will present Keep On Truckin', a solo retrospective of works by American artist Michael Brown. Spanning nearly two decades of artistic effort, the exhibition places early sculptural works from the mid-2000s in direct conversation with a new body of paintings created for this exhibition. The exhibition takes its title from the phrase popularized by cartoonist R. Crumb, whose 1968 one-page comic “Keep On Truckin’,” first published in Zap Comix, became an emblem of American counterculture. Crumb’s cartoon is a visual riff on the lyrics of Blind Boy Fuller’s song “Truckin’ My Blues Away,” depicting a procession of men striding across shifting landscapes, an image so widely reproduced and reimagined that it outgrew the page and became folklore in its own right. LONDON.- Ronchini is presenting lighter later, an exhibition of all-new works by Brooklyn-based artist Rebecca Ward, marking the artist’s fifth solo show with the gallery. Ward’s practice operates at the intersection of painting, sculpture and craft, uprooting conventional distinctions between medium, surface and structure. Over the past decade, Ward has garnered critical acclaim for her sewn and deconstructed canvases. She produces geometrically grounded compositions distinguished by a visual language that foregrounds process, materiality and spatial harmony. Emerging through a sustained dialogue between the digital and handmade, Ward’s works are realised through a meticulous and labour intensive process. On view September 5 through December 27, the traveling exhibition brings visitors inside the world of the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops, an elite tactical deception unit activated by the U.S. Army on January 20, 1944.
