Wesleyan University's Center for the Arts appoints Interim Director Jennifer Calienes
Jennifer Calienes comes to Wesleyan with two decades of experience in nonprofit arts management.



MIDDLETOWN, CONN.- Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts has appointed Jennifer Calienes as Interim Director starting Monday, January 13, 2020. She will remain in the position until a successor is identified and begins work.

Jennifer Calienes comes to Wesleyan with two decades of experience in nonprofit arts management. She has been a national arts consultant since 2014, working with clients including Urban Bush Women, the New England Foundation for the Arts, AXIS Dance Company, and the National Center for Choreography at the University of Akron. Most recently, she served as Interim Deputy Director at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in 2018. Previously she served as the founding Executive and Artistic Director and Associate in Dance at the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography at Florida State University. Originally from Greenfield, Indiana, she holds an Bachelor of Science in Arts Administration with a Dance concentration from Butler University. She currently resides in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

In November 2019, former Center for the Arts Director Sarah Curran left the university to launch an arts consulting practice based out of New York and Chicago.
