NEW YORK, NY.- Lisa Phillips, Toby Devan Lewis Director, announced today the appointment of Regan Grusy as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at the New Museum. In this newly created role, Grusy will work with both corporate and foundation leaders on major partnerships, several of which are already in place, with others to be announced later this year.

The Museum has a long history of partnerships and a belief in the power of collaboration as a core value and distinction. In the past ten years, the Museum has strengthened its expertise and programs around art and technology, launching major partnerships with Nokia Bell Labs, Microsoft Kinect, and the Knight Foundation, among others.

The Museum has also forged global partnerships to support artist residencies and coproduced exhibitions and programs with foundations in the UK, Denmark, France, Turkey, China, and Greece, to name a few—furthering the Museum’s mission to bring the best international emerging art to New York.

Grusy previously worked at the New Museum for nearly a decade, initially as Director of Development, overseeing all of the opening events for the SANAA building on the Bowery. In 2010, she was promoted to Director of Institutional Advancement, participating in strategic planning and growing the Museum’s budget and operations into a second building. Late in 2015, Grusy joined the Metropolitan Museum of Art as Chief of Staff for the Costume Institute, where she helped lead strategy, financial direction, and day-to-day management.

She rejoins the New Museum on September 4 as a member of the senior management team, with over twenty years of experience in strategic planning, development, and team leadership.

Phillips said, “We welcome Regan back during this exciting period of growth for the New Museum, as we prepare to expand our facility and unveil the design this fall. Regan’s passion for the Museum and experience in steering transformational projects makes her an ideal addition to our senior team.

Our exhibitions abroad and lateral programs like IdeasCity, Rhizome’s Seven on Seven, and NEW INC have extended our reach and impact—made possible largely through the power of collaboration and knowledge sharing. As arts institutions evolve in the twenty-first century, this model of working together to maximize impact is already bearing results and redefining the meaning of scale.”

Grusy stated, “It's a great honor to rejoin the New Museum at such a pivotal moment. I’ve long admired how this visionary institution has charted new territory at every level, from programming to partnerships. I look forward to working closely with Lisa and the Museum’s inspiring board, staff, and strategic partners to help realize every future ambition.”
