Pish Posh, an eccentric art pop-up to open adjacent of Akron Art Museum as a FRONT synchronized project
Kamalky Laureano, Paranoia, 2010. Acrylic on canvas, 55 x 70 inches.

AKRON, OH.- From July 12—September 29, Hieronymus and Superchief Gallery will take over the corner of a historic building in downtown Akron at 105 East Market Street to bring a radical art experience with the pop-up gallery, Pish Posh. Adjacent to the Akron Art Museum, the pop-up will include installations and gallery presentations open to the public Wednesday through Saturday, 12-5PM.

Founded in 2014, Hieronymus is an art gallery inspired by the fifteenth-century painter Hieronymus Bosch. Known for his fantastical paintings, Bosch was a master of rousing both fright and delight. Sharing the same sentiment, Hieronymus will present an eclectic exhibition sure to shock and inspire. Hieronymus exhibited art in the Akron Art Museum’s highly popular 2017 exhibitions: Turn the Page: The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose and Gross Anatomies.

Superchief Gallery is an artist-run gallery founded in 2012 with locations in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. Many of their artists have shown work at the Museum of Modern Art while others are scheduled to have solo exhibitions produced by Takashi Murakami in Tokyo. Superchief has featured in publications such as Juxtapoz Magazine, Vice, Vogue, Hyperallergic, PAPER, and many others. Superchief Gallery will present art by Hoxxoh, Swoon, Parker Day, Lauren YS, Sarah Sitkin, Bonethrower and many more upcoming contemporary artists.

Pish Posh is open to the public on Saturday, July 14, 2018, and open to the FRONT VIP attendees July 12-13 to promote the reach and ongoing efforts of the FRONT experience in Akron.
