Mural By Artist Patricia Ingersoll Commissioned

PHILADELPHIA, PA.- Artist Patricia Ingersoll has completed a mural titled Presbyterian Cares, commissioned by the Presbyterian Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The 21’ x 51’ painting covers three contiguous walls located in the lobby and reception area of the hospital’s outpatient facility located at 38th and Market Street.

The mural’s center panel shows several doctors, a patient and a nurse standing in front of the Myrin Circle outside of the hospital. A view of Center City Philadelphia looking from West Philadelphia is shown on the right panel, and the left panel contains various buildings in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital complex. The mural was designed and painted by Ingersoll in conjunction with artist Eric Okdeh.

The project was funded by Dr. Jack Ende and the Women’s Committee of the Presbyterian Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Patricia Ingersoll’s paintings have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the Northeast, including the Woodmere Art Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Richard Rosenfeld Gallery, and the Nexus Foundation for Today’s Art in Philadelphia; The Blum Gallery of the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine; Pennsylvania; and the Allegheny Museum of Art in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. In New York City, her work was featured in shows at the Viridian Gallery and Prince Street Gallery. She is currently represented by the JMS Gallery in Philadelphia and the Wingspread Gallery in Mt. Desert, Maine.

In addition, her work is in numerous public and corporate collections, including those of the Rouse Corporation, the Pew Charitable Trust, and the Cigna Corporation in Philadelphia; the Nucon Corporation in Boston; The State Museum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and McGraw-Hill in New York City. Since 1992 Ingersoll was a participating artist in the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, and is credited with the design and execution of eight large outdoor murals. A selection of her murals are featured in the book Philadelphia Murals and the Stories They Tell, published by Temple University Press in 2002.
