BUSTING HAIR TRANSPLANTATION MYTHS

Many times when we think about hair loss, hair transplantation is one thing that comes to mind. Despite being a popular treatment option, it is not always the ideal solution. Hair loss can be temporary or permanent. Going to a Toronto hair transplant Clinic will help you determine the type of hair loss, its cause and treatment options. As it is a popular treatment, certain myths surround it. This can lead to a lot of apprehension. We are here to bust some common myths.

Myth: It is only for male pattern baldness
Androgenetic alopecia is the genetic disposition for hair loss. It is also known as male pattern baldness. The reason is that it impacts more men than women. This hair loss is experienced differently by men and women. The approach to hair transplantation is different. With women, hair transplant is more meticulous and allows them to keep their hair long hair intact. The procedure is tailored to meet the requirements of the individual.

Myth: It is the ideal way to target hair loss
Hair transplantation is not always the best option for targeting hair loss. Criteria need to be met. If a patient is too young, they need to wait till the shedding has stabilized. When hair loss is temporary, surgical intervention is not required. To undergo hair transplantation, there need to be enough follicles that can be harvested. Otherwise, the procedure can’t be carried out.

Myth: You won’t require any other scalp or hair treatment after transplantation
The follicles which are relocated are naturally resistant to DHT but the follicles that belong originally to the targeted site might not be able to resist fallout. They will continue to shut down and the production of hair will eventually stop. As genetic hair loss is progressive, you will begin to see the change over time. You might require a second round of hair transplantation. Pairing up the transplantation with PRP Can encourage hair growth as it stimulates blood circulation.

Myth: Transplantation results are instant
Once the new follicles have been transplanted you will be able to see them right away. This isn’t the final result. The newly transplanted hair will start to fall out in the next couple of weeks. The fallout continues for a bit. Once the follicles begin to heal themselves, you will start to see new hair strands sprout. This whole cycle takes about 3 months. It takes around 8 to 12 months to see the full growth. Though hair transplantation can help produce long-lasting results, one needs to be patient.

Myth: Those who are above 50 can’t undergo hair transplantation
There is no scientific rule that states anyone above the age of 50 can’t undergo the hair transplantation procedure. If there is enough hair remaining at the back and side of the scalp, it means you are a good candidate for the treatment. What could play a determining role are the underlying health conditions that could impair the healing process.
