DALLAS, TX.- The annual Holiday Jewelry Signature® Auction became the capstone event of the best year ever recorded in fine jewelry at
Heritage Auctions. This last Signature® jewelry event of the year surpassed estimates to reach a total of $4.7 million boosting total 2021 jewelry sales beyond $21 million, a 52% increase from the 2019 total of $13.8 million.
Consistent sales increases of this significance reflect our dedication to meeting the needs of our consignors, and the trust that bidders continue to place in Heritage, said Jill Burgum, Senior Director, Fine Jewelry.
The theme of this years Holiday Auction showcased some of the most celebrated designs and coveted collections from extraordinary Texas estates. Several pieces surpassed six figures, including a 5.93-carat diamond ring with tapered baguette-cut diamonds and a platinum band that sold for $206,250. The finest single-owner collection of Oscar Heyman ever presented by the auction house, and part of the estate of Texas philanthropist Kittie West Nelson Ferguson, dazzled more than 2,500 bidders and shone brightly past estimates.
The estate jewelry, including a wonderful collection from a very prominent family in Texas, brought so much enthusiasm to the bidding floor, said Burgum. The Oscar Heyman Baby Gorilla was a distinctively precious estate brooch. We fell in love with it at first sight, and to see the winning bid at 300% above estimate was exciting for everyone.
The diverse auction also featured a wide variety of jewelry made by desirable designer brands with colored gemstones and large diamonds.
Leading lots included, but were not limited to:
A Classic Diamond Ring 5.93-carat F Color VVS2 Round Brilliant Diamond, Platinum Sold for $206,250 18% above its estimate
A Van Cleef & Arpels Sapphire Ring 21.56-carat Oval Sapphire, Diamonds, Platinum Sold for $187,500
A Fancy Yellow Diamond Ring 16.52-carat Light Yellow Radiant, 18k Gold Sold for $162,500 63% above its estimate
Capitalizing on its sales momentum, Heritage Fine Jewelry will have additional opportunities in 2022 for bidders to discover the most rare and beautiful objects of desire.
Our clients continue to anticipate and ask when the next event will be, Burgum said. We are committed to offering multiple opportunities and convenient accessibility to a broad selection of curated treasures. This new schedule for 2022 is designed to meet our clients needs.
