LONDON.- Taymour Grahne Projects announced that Minyoung Kim has joined its collaborative artist roster.
Born in Seoul, and now living and working in London, Kim works primarily on unstretched canvas, painting freely without the burden of conventional canvas frame to contend with. She is particularly influenced by myths, folktales, fairy tales and poetry. These narratives all spur uncanny and inventive imagery that speaks to an unconscious world. The ambiguity in Kim's paintings reference an emotive place where the balance between danger, mystery and the whimsical are explored.
Minyoung Kim was born in Seoul in 1989, and lives and works in London. Graduating from The Slade School of Fine Art in 2021, Kim also holds an MFA in printmaking and a BA in Western Painting from Sungshin Womens University, Seoul, South Korea. Kims solo exhibition Night Fever with Taymour Grahne Projects (London), was the inaugural show launching the gallery's third space The Artist Room by Taymour Grahne Projects. Previous solo exhibitions include at Aout Gallery (Beirut), Place Mak (Seoul), Seogyo Art Space (Seoul), and various other Seoul-based spaces. Recent group exhibitions include the London Grads Now: Saatchi Gallery (London), The National Taiwan Arts Education Centre (Taipei), Artime Art Centre (China) and Fortnight Institute (NY).
Taymour Grahne Projects also announced that Asif Hoque has joined its collaborative artist roster.
As a Bangladeshi immigrant raised between Rome and South Florida, Hoques paintings attempt to figuratively and stylistically combine aspects of multicultural identity. Hoque's exploration and celebration of brown bodies, triumphantly exclaim their due belonging in all spaces. One sees mythical embodiments of strength; curvaceous creatures with stirring eyes, almighty hair unapologetically curly or sky blue wings granting the gift of flight.
Asif Tanvir Hoque (b. 1991) currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His recent exhibitions at galleries include, Mindy Solomon (Miami), Almine Rech (Brussels), Yossi Milo (New York), Taymour Grahne (London) and Selena's Mountain (Brooklyn). In August 2021, Hoque opened his first UK solo show titled The American Loverboy at Taymour Grahne Projects , Notting Hill, London. The show's paintings were made during Hoque's time in the UK, Summer 2021.
