How to Clean a Green Swimming Pool in a Professional Way

Owning a swimming pool can be a luxury as if brings fun and entertainment during summers. It is best for a bustling pool party or a lone dip in the cool water in warm summer nights. However, owning a swimming pool is not always easy as it requires a lot of maintenance to keep it hygienic and the water fresh. In case you want to learn how to clean a green swimming pool that has been left unkempt for a while, here’s what to do professionally with the help of a good Swimming Pool Company:

There are many reasons for having an unclean swimming pool. If the owners do not invest much in pool maintenance then it tends to get dirty and unhygienic. A lot of dust and trash may be trapped on the water surface which can include trash or dried leaves etc. Also, the pool’s floor can be damaged. In such cases, it is best to hire a renowned Swimming Pool Company with professional cleaners that work aptly and know how to clean a green swimming pool, according to the needs of your pool.

Similarly, an untended swimming pool may develop fungi, moss, or green surface over the water that can nurture micro-organisms that can contaminate the water. For this issue, it is always a better option to go for professional help.

What the professional cleaners would do?

The professional pool cleaners help you in the following ways:

Step 1: Understanding your pool’s water chemistry
Your pool’s water chemistry needs to be understood to infiltrate an accurate amount of chemicals to counter the growing fungi or algae. This is the first step that is eminent for starting the work on a green pool. If your pool is too much contaminated then it might be acid-washed and completely drained to further the process of cleaning.

One way to check whether the pool can be treated with chemicals only instead of complete draining is to see if you can peek through the water six inches deep. If you can, then it is a sign that the water can be treated with chemicals only.

Step 2: Testing the water’s pH level
The water needs to be tested for any micro-organisms’ growth or contamination. The water’s pH level is something that will determine what needs to be done. Only professional cleaners from the best Swimming Pool Company, who know how to clean a green swimming pool, can detect the exact pH level of the water. The pH level of the water must be 7.2 or lower, it should not be higher than this, or else the water would be considered highly contaminated. Since high pH levels will make the pool cloudy and for that, a gallon of muriatic acid will do.

Step 3: Shocking the pool
Shocking the water is another method that can help clean your pool. This is meant to either add chlorine or non-chlorine chemicals to raise the “chlorine-free” level. With this level, the algae, bacteria, and chloramines can be killed. Once the pH levels are controlled, the water can be treated with granular chlorine (calcium hypochlorite). This chemical can be used for regular pool maintenance by the owners. The chlorine can be spread evenly on the water along with a good algaecide that will help the water get clean in a few hours. Also, a flocculent agent can be used to further treat the water.

Step 4: Pumping and Filtering
The pool can be emptied of water and pumped with fresh water. This filtration method is the most easiest and effective in pool cleaning. The filters, however, can be of a few types:

First, there is Diatomaceous earth (DE) filter that uses DE powder to help ease the hold of the grown algae.

Second, there is a Sand Filter that also helps in separating the dust particles from the water.

Third, there is Cartridge Filter that catches large debris from the water surface.
Hence, the choice of filtration method depends solely on the need and condition of the water.

Step 5: Brushing and Filtration
The pool can be brushed and filtered again for second-checking the presence of any micro-organisms. Within 24 hours of the filtration process, the pool should not be green anymore. Although brushing can be needed for a few days to clean the tough surfaces that have accumulated hard layers of algae. However, the cloudiness of the water will take some time to go away, and if it doesn’t, then it means that the number of chemicals used to treat the water has been inaccurate.

Step 6: Balancing the chemistry
The pool water can be rechecked for balanced chemistry that can only be maintained through proper and regular check and upkeep. For this, regular chlorine tablets must be out into the water instead of throwing a huge bag of chlorine once in a while.
Also, the filters, whichever type you are using, need to be checked and cleaned regularly to ensure hygiene.

Apart from this, the pool can be covered during the daytime for protecting the water to warm up unnecessarily or to prevent evaporation. A good pool cover will also prevent dust and external trash to enter the water. It can also help protect the water during rain or any unpleasant weather conditions.

Pool cleaning is not a tricky business however, only professional cleaners from a reliable Swimming Pool Company who thoroughly know how to clean a green swimming pool, must be considered for this job. This is due to the accuracy of chemical exposure that is only done with professional expertise. Without such knowledge, the pool can be damaged and might require a complete replacement, in the worst scenarios. Hence, to treat a green pool, not just professional help is required, but one’s regular input is also needed to preserve the pool.
