Art in online gaming is not just an illusion

The new Palms Casino Resort could be the best art museum in Las Vegas, according to Business Insider.

The online casino is not insensitive to art. The proof is in this article. As part of its $620 million renovation, the casino resort is offering a crazy collection of top-notch art and contemporary street art, curated by executive art director Tal Cooperman. We got our first exclusive look at the pieces on display.

An important collection of modern art masterpieces by Richard Prince, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, on loan from Palms owners Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, and contemporary commissions by street art stars including Jason Revoke, Crash, KAWS, Timothy Curtis, and Eric Haze.

Notable features include a Damien Hirst shark, titled "The Unknown," hanging over a casino bar that the artist designed himself, a private dining room at the signature Scotch 80 Prime restaurant featuring a triptych of Basquiat's early works titled "Speaks For Itself. To enhance the property's convivial aesthetic, the Send Noodles bar is lined with murals by James Jean, the illustrator responsible for the posters for this year's Oscar-winning film The Shape of Water.

But art doesn't stay in physical casinos, it's also in online casino games. Players can not only find the coolest games on specialised websites like Betiton but can also find breathtaking art on their pages. And above all there's great welcome bonuses involved for every new player registering on their website. This way they get a good head start in their art-filled online casino adventures.

Casino gaming art trends revealed
Casino games are big business in the mobile world. According to MrMega: casino games account for 6 of the 20 most lucrative games. Casino software designers have worked extensively on casino game projects with clients such as Big Fish and Konami - providing marketing art and live games. Below we share best practices for creating dynamic art for casino games.

Casino Game Art Guidelines:

1. Eye-catching, big, bold and luxurious assets are king. Above all, casino developers want their games to look premium and attractive.

2. Many characters are designed to be characters and symbols in games and slot machines.

3. Graphic design is essential. The artwork blends with the text to clearly attract new users.

4. Most symbols, characters and backgrounds are animated to attract the attention of players. Developers must take this into account when designing assets for casino games and slot machines.

5. Casino art is often in high resolution to be easily seen and attractive on mobile and full-size gaming machines.

6. All art must look good on its own as well as paired with other assets in the game.

7. Most art has a hierarchy of value that must be read immediately.

8. Debra Kaplan, a renowned addiction psychologist has worked extensively with casino patrons and shares her knowledge on comparing the art styles of casino games with the art styles of other popular mobile games.

"For casino games, the goal is to hook and keep players. They want you to come back again and again to play. Casino game developers are masters at using flashy images, sparkling video effects and bright colours to make players feel engaged. Games like Candy Crush and Clash of Clans have done a great job of mimicking this engagement, drawing on the artistic styles of casino games. But the casino industry will always be the best and boldest in using animation and artistic effects to engage players."

Big Fish reigns supreme in mobile casino games. Big Fish Casino is the highest grossing casino game in the US mobile market, with revenues of approximately $50 million in the second quarter of 2015. Concept Art House has provided marketing images for Big Fish Casino in the past. In the marketing images below, the iconic flashy effects and eye-catching designs of the casino game art are prevalent.
