Timken Museum of Art names Kathleen Lundgren and Alexandra Davis Perez to its Board of Directors
Kathleen Lundgren earned her Master of Divinity from Yale University concentrating in both medical ethics and the history of psychological and social development.

SAN DIEGO, CA.- The board of directors of the Timken Museum of Art located in Balboa Park in San Diego has named bioethicist Kathleen Lundgren and interior designer Alexandra Davis Perez to its ranks bringing the total number of board members to 14. The Timken’s board is led by chair Jessie J. Knight, Jr., Sempra Energy’s former executive vice president of external affairs and chief sustainability officer and former president and chief executive officer of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“We are pleased to welcome Kathleen and Alexandra to the Timken’s board of directors,“ stated Knight. “They will be invaluable as the museum completes its renovation currently underway and prepares to open its doors to the public later this year.”

Lundgren earned her Master of Divinity from Yale University concentrating in both medical ethics and the history of psychological and social development. She taught bioethics at Yale and consulted and wrote policy as a clinical pediatric ethicist at Yale Children’s Hospital. Lundgren has dedicated most of her professional life to bioethics and health policy serving on the Yale School of Medicine Human Investigation Committee for Research and the Advisory Board of Yale School of Medicine Humanities in Medicine.

Davis Perez is an alum of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and The Art Institute of California, formerly located in San Diego. She currently works as an interior designer for Kaz Design Group of La Jolla and Orange County. As an aficionado of art and design, Davis Perez looks forward to bringing a new generational perspective to her work with the board and as a representative for the Timken in its outreach, artistic and fundraising activities.

“The San Diego community is the Timken’s most valuable resource especially during this past year which has been such a challenge for the arts,” commented Megan Pogue, executive director of the Timken. “Our two new board members are exemplary members of the community who are eager to serve as we continue to bring art to the public via the Timken’s year-round free admission, community engagement and educational outreach programs.”

Throughout the pandemic, the Timken’s artistic and education staff has focused its attention on a variety of online programs including Curator’s Corner and Work of the Week highlighting the museum’s impressive collection of American and European masters. In addition, the Timken has been offering online art classes to patients and staff at the Naval Medical Center San Diego (Balboa Hospital), the youth at Kearny Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility Hall and at many senior centers throughout the county. These online programs and art classes are also available to the general public via the Timken’s YouTube channel.
