Capo Auctions celebrates "Five-year anniversary auction" for mid-fall

LONG ISLAND CITY, NY.- New York’s Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques in Long Island City is celebrating their fifth anniversary this month, by presenting their “Five Year Anniversary Auction” on Saturday, October 24th at 11am and will host a cocktail reception in honor of the anniversary during previews on Thursday, October 22nd from 6-8pm.

Taking the spotlight at Capo Auction’s “Five Year Anniversary Auction” this month is a collection of unusual antique Spanish and other furniture, a Steinway Rosewood piano, a Panthere de Cartier Ring and a wonderful selection of contemporary art, bronze, decorative items and jewelry.

Already getting much attention are the Spanish Vargueno - Circa 1900, in two parts, the top with two doors opening to a series of drawers and a hidden sliding panel for writing, the bottom, a marquetry arcade stand with two Moorish mihrab back panels with a geometric star and inlaid patterns and cartouches with Arabic inscriptions encircling the top panel, on an inlaid base with stylized inscriptions. Height 65 inches, width 36 inches, depth 17 inches. (Estimated value $6-8,000), a Spanish marquetry mirror - Circa 1900, an Andalusian marquetry folding mirror, two hinged doors with stylized mihrab and geometric inlaid patterns opening to three mirrors, framed with inlaid wood and the mihrabs, all standing on an inlaid base. Height 81 inches, width 40 inches, open, width 82 inches, depth 21 inches. Provenance: Granada, Spain, 1900. (Estimated value $5-7,000) and an Egyptian dessert table - ornamental walnut table with ten Moorish style arches on the sides Inlaid with mother-of-pearl in classic arabesque style. Height 32 inches, width 46 inches, depth 26 inches. (Estimated value $1,000-1,500).

Jewelry pieces getting a lot of attention include a highly desirable Panthere de Cartier Ring - 18k white gold and diamond ring, openwork design with green tsavorite garnet eyes and onyx nose, signed, with French hallmarks, numbered 53 260814A. Size 6. (Estimated value $28-32,000) and the Seaman Schepps earrings and ring set - carved turquoise and 14k yellow gold rope decoration, comprising a domed ring and matching earrings. (Estimated value $5-7,000).

A beautiful Steinway rosewood piano is also being offered, serial number hidden, probably late 19th century, and 85 keys. (Estimated value $6-8,000), along with a more contemporary glass top dining table - rectangular top with rounded corners on a patinated metal abstract base. Height 29 inches, width 89 inches, depth 43 inches. (Estimated value $1,500-2,000).

In the fine and contemporary art arena this month, Capo Auction is featuring a Marcel Rieder (French, 1851–1925) Untitled (Mother sitting with daughter's bed). Oil on canvas, circa 1880. Signed (LL). Frame size 51.5 x 45 inches, canvas size 39.5 x 37 inches. Provenance: JML Antiques, Property of a New York Collector. (Estimated value $$6-8,000), a Romain de Tirtoff, Erté (French, 1892-1990) Gypsy. Watercolor and metallic ink on paper, 20th century. Signed (LR). Frame size 29 x 22 inches, sight size 18 x 11 inches. Matted and framed. (Estimated value $1500-2000).
