GLENS FALLS, NY.- The
Hyde Collection will host an exclusive tour of Paris and northern France in spring of 2009 as a precursor to Degas & Music, a one-time exhibition of the music-inspired works by French Impressionist Edgar Degas.
The in-depth cultural and educational excursion – “An Impressionist Journey” - will be hosted by The Hyde’s Executive Director David F. Setford and Timothee Faberger of out of This World Travel. Setford’s Anglo-French heritage will allow him to offer unique insights in France’s most famous museums and Impressionists’ gathering places.
“An Impressionist Journey is an apt name for this excursion,” said Setford. “Over the ten days, we will tour the France of the Impressionists, exploring both the museums that house their works and the haunts that inspired their masterpieces.”
The number of travelers will be limited to ensure small-group, private tours; elegant dinners; and such one-of-a-kind experiences as opening night of the ballet at the Paris Opera House and dinner at the restaurant where Renoir painted the famous “The Luncheon of the Boating Party (1881). Participants will stay in four-star, luxury accommodations near famous Paris landmarks, plus elegant castles and intimate lodgings as they explore northern France, its sights, and culinary delights. Travel is scheduled for May 23 through June 2, 2009.
