SOFIA.- On March 19, 2025, the National Museum of History (NMH) officially opened the exhibition "Sea, Brush and Chisel Through the Eyes and Heart of Contemporary Artists," dedicated to the works of contemporary Bulgarian and international painters and sculptors. The exhibition includes works created during the annual plein air events in the "Rusalka" holiday village.
The main theme of the exhibition is the sea its endless beauty and mystery, as well as the place of man in its vast journey. Through art, the authors seek a dialogue between the past and the present, conveying their messages for a better and spiritually rich world.
The exhibition features 27 selected works from the "Rusalka" collection fund, created over the past two decades. They are the work of established and young artists from Bulgaria, Syria, Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and other countries. The works explore the sea as a central character, intertwining it with myths, legends, nature, and human stories.
Among the authors whose works are included in the exhibition, various styles and themes stand out, such as folk and mythological images (Temenuga Hristova), natural landscapes and playful subjects (Mzinashvili son, Borislav Danev), fantastic expressionism (Edmond Demirdjian), organic and surreal compositions (Laura Dimitrova).
Visitors will be able to enjoy the exhibition from March 20 to May 15, 2025. Through various painting techniques and themes, the works transport visitors to a world of magical sea landscapes, abstract forms, and intimate human corners.
The exhibition is part of the National Museum of History's commitment to support art and culture by preserving and promoting the spiritual heritage of nations.
