ICC and BCCI Agree on Hybrid Model for 2025 Champions Trophy

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reached an agreement to host the 2025 Champions Trophy in a hybrid model. This decision was made after discussions between ICC Chairman Jay Shah and board members, including representatives from Pakistan, at a meeting in Dubai on December 5, 2024.

Under this arrangement, India will play all its matches in Dubai, while the tournament will be co-hosted by the UAE and Pakistan. This solution aims to balance the interests of all involved parties, including the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025 comes after months of negotiations between the BCCI and PCB. The PCB initially had concerns about hosting the event in India but eventually agreed to the hybrid model after withdrawing its threat of boycotting the tournament. This model ensures that Pakistan will play their games in Pakistan, while India's matches will be staged in Dubai.

According to reports, the decision was finalized following a meeting where all parties, including Jay Shah and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, agreed that this would be the best solution for the Champions Trophy 2025. Naqvi emphasized that the focus should be on the sport itself, and that the formula would be fair to all teams involved.

In return for this compromise, the PCB requested that a similar hybrid approach be applied to all ICC tournaments held in India through 2031. The ICC has agreed to extend this model until 2027, covering all ICC events during this period. This includes two major tournaments that India will host: the Women's World Cup in 2025 and the T20 World Cup in 2026, which will be co-hosted with Sri Lanka. In these tournaments, Pakistan's team will play all their matches in neutral locations, as per the agreed-upon hybrid model.

Fans and broadcasters can expect the official schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy to be released soon, marking a significant step in the preparations for the tournament. Stay tuned to Uc Cricket for more updates on this story and other exciting sports news.
