LONDON.- Gasworks is a leading non-profit organisation based in south London. Working at the intersection of UK and international contemporary art, they have supported more than 600 artists from over 80 countries since its founding in 1994.

Gasworks commissions and produces exhibitions by UK-based and international artists, and hosts residencies that enable artists from all over the world to research and develop new work in London. They also provide subsidised studios for London-based artists and co-design participation projects together with local community partners.

The exhibitions programme for 2025 includes solo shows by Tanat Teeradakorn, Nolan Oswald Dennis, Ben Sakoguchi and Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien.

Tanat Teeradakorn
January 30–March 30, 2025

A new commission and the first solo exhibition in Europe by Bangkok-based multi-disciplinary artist, musician, DJ and graphic designer, Tanat Teeradakorn. Exploring the parallel histories of Thailand and the UK through references to pop culture, revolution and monarchy, the exhibition will contain an immersive installation mimicking a tourist city souvenir stand, replete with products illustrating instances of refusal and resistance. Inside the stand, a new audio and video work will fuse TikTok-style viral dance routines with Thai folk dance and opera, continuing the artist’s ongoing research on cross-cultural sounds.

Nolan Oswald Dennis
April 24–June 22, 2025

The first UK solo exhibition by Johannesburg-based artist Nolan Oswald Dennis, who works across mediums to explore the politics of space and time through a system- rather than site-specific approach. The exhibition will include new and existing works exploring the relationships between geology and cosmology, alongside a new iteration of the Black Earth Study Club, developed in collaboration with local artists, writers and researchers.

Ben Sakoguchi
July 10–September 7, 2025

The first institutional solo exhibition in Europe by Japanese American artist Ben Sakoguchi, whose acerbic painting style melds elements of figuration, history, and Pop to critique Western cultural values and idealism. At Gasworks, Sakoguchi will present a new series of paintings titled Critical Art Theory, which reflect on the version of art history he was first introduced to whilst studying at UCLA in the late 1950s. The series explores how religion, monarchy and capitalism have shaped the development of art over the centuries.

Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien
October 2–December 14, 2025

A new commission by Paris-based artist Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien, who makes textile works, performances and installations that explore how ideas of femininity and the cosmos cross different cultures, generations, and materials. Her first solo exhibition in the UK will be developed during a residency at Gasworks from January to March 2025, and will include a new installation and series of wall-based works incorporating craft techniques passed down the matrilineal line of her family for many generations.
