Art Madrid Doubles the Exhibition Space

MADRID, SPAIN.- Art Madrid doubles the exhibition space and the number of galleries, many of them coming from Latin America. Art Madrid grows. For its second edition -that will be held from 15th to 19th February, 2007-, the Spanish art fair will receive the participation of a major number of galleries coming from Latin America and Europe. The space in the Crystal Pavilion from the Casa de Campo in Madrid, doubles from last year's, and the number of galleries increases from 50 in 2006 to more than 80, already admitted by the selection committee, with special presence of Latin-American representatives and important Portuguese galleries.

Last year art works were commercialized for more than 7 million €, and next year the collectors will have increased the offer with Latin-American artist's works brought by important galleries from Colombia, Guatemala, Venezuela, Cuba, Argentina, Mexico and The United States. The confluence between the Latin American countries and Spain, will allow to observe the parallelisms and influences among both culture's artists.

Art Madrid thinks that the natural evolution of a Spanish contemporary art fair, would be the expansion towards Latin America, opening the door towards a major international knowledge of his artists. So, Art Madrid will try to turn into a reference for the Latin American Art in Europe.

First edition results: The success of this first edition (including the media attendance, with more than 400 journalists accredited) confirm the need of an Art Fair of commercial character for a series of collectors who were not attended up to this moment. And it comes to balance the market of the contemporary currents in Spain, too.

The definitive list of admitted galleries will close at the end of this month. The interested galleries can find more information in the web page: www.art-madrid.com or calling +34 91 535 87 11.
