MONTRÉAL, CANADA.- Take advantage of these remaining weeks of warm weather to stroll down McGill College Avenue and visit Transactions, the McCord Museums first outdoor photographic exhibition. The poignant, often playful pairings of photographs present stunning colour images of objects from the Museums renowned collections, as well as black and white historic photographs from the Notman Photographic Archives.
Presented until October 16th, 2006, the exhibition plays with the idea of the transaction the basis of trade and commerce but also at the root of social, cultural, and personal life. The connections may be surprising, and are certainly thought-provoking. Transactions inspires new insights into Montréals past, present, and future.
Mounted on specially designed aluminium supports, the large-scale photographs are displayed along the west side of McGill College Avenue, between Saint-Catherine Street and de Maisonneuve Boulevard.
The positive public response to this exhibition has been extremely encouraging says the Museums Executive Director, Victoria Dickenson. Presenting the McCords collections in such a visible space is a rare and wonderful opportunity. The Museum has been awarded the contract for the outdoor photo installation for the next two summers.
