LONDON, ENGLAND.- The One Million Masterpiece, the world's largest collaborative arts project, launched and promises to unite people from all cultures across the world. Using the internet as a global canvas, the One Million Masterpiece invites one million people to create their own piece of art. Together the images will form one huge, unique picture. Everyone with access to the Internet can take part by visiting www.theonemillionmasterpiece.com - and using their mouse as their paintbrush.

The result will provide a unique visual snapshot of our world. The final picture will be printed onto one giant canvas and unveiled in London on 11 July 2007, World Population Day, as a symbol of global unity.

The project is both an artistic venture and a non-profit initiative will raise over GBP3.5 million for global humanitarian, health and environmental charities. This will be achieved through the collection of a GBP3.50 donation from each artist towards Save The Children, Oxfam, World Cancer Research Fund, ActionAid or WWF.

Founder of The One Million Masterpiece, Paul Fisher, comments: "This project is about using the power of the internet to bring people together using a universal language. This picture will tell one million personal stories, highlighting the diversity and similarity of people from around the world. The fact that we hope to raise over GBP3.5 million for global causes completes a project that is produced by the world's people, for the world's people."

The current official record to be broken - For the most painters of one picture : The 14.63 m (48 ft) long and 2.43 m (8 ft) high painting A Little Dab of Texas , designed by Jim Campbell of Brenham, Texas, USA, was painted by 25,297 people and was completed in 3 years, 7 months on June 14, 1998.

The unveiling - The project will go down in history as the world's largest ever artistic collaboration. The final canvas will measure 80 meters wide by 31 meters high. Side by side, the images would stretch 31 miles - the distance from the UK to the Isle of Mann.
