GLASGOW.- After the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum underwent over $52 million in refurbishment a signed photograph of Adolf Hitler was found hidden. The Scotsman reported that the 2-foot-high portrait of the former Nazi leader was found behind a bookcase in the famed museum and has left museum officials confused as to its origins.

Museum workers found the picture dated to Oct 23, 1933, and signed "To Sir Daniel Stephenson, Best wishes Adolf Hitler."

The United Press reported that Stephenson was a promoter of education bonds between British and European universities in the early 20th century and likely received the photograph during his efforts with German academies.

The Scotsman reported that "The mystery still remains though as to how it got into the Kelvingrove and where it came from. We have no record at all of how it came to be in the gallery because normally each individual piece is logged in. That has not happened here."

The museum reopened last Tuesday and its officials have said they have no plans to exhibit the portrait in the immediate future, the paper said.
