Community steps up to support local charity
Carlisle-based disability arts charity, Prism Arts, have been moved by charitable donations.

CARLISLE.- The charity, like many, have been feeling the squeeze of the cost-of-living-crisis and found that the running cost of their accessible art programmes was increasing.

After asking for help on social media, Prism Arts were staggered by the response. Quickly calls and emails began flooding in from members of the community offering the charity their spare art materials. Donations have included a crate of spray cans, printmaking materials, easels, paints and other creative supplies from individuals across Cumbria.

A Prism Artist said of the donations: “This is amazing. Thank you so much everyone.”

Katie Lock, Visual Arts Lead at Prism Arts, commented: ‘I’d like to say a big thank you for the generosity from the local community. Something as simple as a pack of coloured paper can make a big difference in what we are able to do. With these donations we can now look to sourcing more specialist equipment to increase accessibility and creative ambition!’

Prism Arts are as determined as ever to champion access to the arts for learning disabled and neurodivergent artists in Cumbria.

As an independent charity, Prism Arts rely on generous donations to enable them to provide their vital service. If you would like to donate art supplies, the charity would really appreciate any of the following:

• Coloured paper/ Art paper
• Glue Sticks
• Ipads

If you'd like to help out in other ways, there are tonnes of ways you can get involved from volunteering to fundraising - or even making a financial donation. Whatever the gift, it will make a huge difference!

You can find out more about how to support Prism Arts here, or get in touch at or 01228 587691 and the charity would be thrilled to talk to you more about their work!
