NEW YORK, NY.- Contemporary Art is on offer at Swann Galleries Tuesday, November 16 with a robust selection of works from the twenty-first century’s leading artists, as well as exceptional material by midcentury practitioners.

Leading the contemporary highlights is David Hockney’s Hotel Acatlán: Second Day, a 1984 color lithograph diptych at $60,000-90,000. Further British artists included in the sale will be Howard Hodgkin, Frank Auerbach and Deidre Hubbard.

Jenny Holzer is available with two cast bronze plaques: Living Series: More People Will be Building Hiding Places in Their Homes…, 1980–82, and Survival Series: If You Aren’t Political Your Personal Life Should be Exemplary, 1998, estimated at $10,000 to $15,000, each. Clement Meadmore’s 1999 bronze sculpture Start Up is expected to bring $15,000 to $20,000. Additional sculptures by Tony Rosenthal, Mimmo Paladino, Fumio Yoshimura and Zaha Hadid, also feature; while a run of works by Christo will include Pont Sant’Angelo, Wrapped, Project of Rome, a 2011 screenprint with collage of fabric and thread, at $8,000 to $12,000.

Four original works by Terry Winters include Fallen Leaf, oil on canvas, 1983 ($15,000-20,000), featured alongside select offerings by Wolf Kahn, Joan Brown, Helen Covensky, and Robert Natkin. Prints from Bruce Newman, Barbara Kruger, Christopher Wool and Kerry James Marshall are set to appear, as well as multiples from Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama and Banksy.

Abstract Expressionism and mid-century abstract art will also feature with notable works by Elaine de Kooning, Mercedes Matter, Richard Diebenkorn and William de Kooning. Highlights will include a small grouping of oils by Elaine de Kooning: two circa-1960 on paper ($10,000-15,000, apiece), and a circa-1980–85 work on silk ($30,000-50,000), as well as a circa-1985 bronze relief sculpture ($15,000-20,000). Mercedes Matter is on offer with Bethel, Connecticut, oil on canvas, circa 1964–65 ($25,000-35,000). Also available is After Vincent Van Gogh, oil on canvas, 1959, by Walasse Ting ($100,000-150,000) and Les Cerfs, color lithograph, 1952, by Zao Wou-Ki ($4,000-6,000).

Post-painterly abstraction and geometric art will feature a select run of large color screenprints by Frank Stella— Ahab, 1985–88, ($10,000-15,000); prints by Sam Francis, and original watercolors by Peter Young, as well as exceptional works by Anni Albers and Gene Davis. Agnes Martin features with a 1977 watercolor and pencil drawing in her distinctive style of straight lines in a set square ($30,000 to $50,000).

Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Indiana and more represent the offering of Pop Art in the sale.
