LONDON.- Taymour Grahne Projects announced the opening of its third London gallery space The Artist Room launching with Night Fever, a solo exhibition by London-based artist Minyoung Kim opening on Oct. 23 from 3-5 PM.
Located in a gem-sized building at 52 Lonsdale Road, in the heart of Notting Hill, The Artist Room is down the road from the gallerys current Notting Hill space (located at 1 Lonsdale Road, W11). The new space, an extension of the programming offered by Taymour Grahne Projects, will be dedicated to exhibiting solo, focused presentations from contemporary artists who work across a variety of mediums, including ceramics, drawings, installations, as well as paintings.
The exhibitions at The Artist Room will be augmented by an online component to each show, creating a hybrid online/IRL exhibition space. The line-up of first year exhibitions includes respective solo shows by: USA-based artists Melvino Garretti, Manal Abu-Shaheen, Nat Meade, Shaun Ellison and Nick Hoover; London-based artists Richard Burton and Krzysztof Strzelecki; and Seoul-based artist Jung Min Park. The gallery will be open from 10 AM - 6 PM, Tues Sat.
Founder Taymour Grahne adds: I am excited to be adding an additional third space to my gallery, enabling us to offer the artists we work with versatile spaces to showcase their work. I am a great believer in the Notting Hill /Holland Park neighbourhood as an important gallery hub in London. All three gallery spaces are a short walk from one another, highlighting our commitment to the area, whilst giving visitors the opportunity to see three of our exhibitions at the same time.
The opening exhibition, Night Fever by Minyoung Kim explores the artists interest in
Phenomenology, the philosophical study of the structures of experience and consciousness. Rather than approaching Phenomenology from a scientific advantage, or in the form of written commentary, Kim is inclined to pick up a paintbrush and paint - creating mirrors to some of her inner-most feelings.
Minyoung Kim was born in Seoul in 1989, and lives and works in London. Graduating from The Slade School of Fine Art in 2021, Kim also holds an MFA in printmaking and a BA in Western Painting from Sungshin Womens University, Seoul, South Korea. Previous solo exhibitions include at Aout Gallery (Beirut), Place Mak (Seoul), Seogyo Art Space (Seoul), and various other Seoul-based spaces. Recent group exhibitions include at The National Taiwan Arts Education Centre (Taipei), Artime Art Centre (China) and Fortnight Institute (NY).
