Depression is a quite severe illness that can lead someone to suicide. It is a general mood swing. Now, if you don’t have any clue about it, then you should read this article. Now, some conditions can also make depression worse, which are asthma, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc.

Symptoms in Men
• Anger, irritability, aggressiveness, restlessness, anxiousness.
• Being sad, empty, and hopeless.
• Loss of interest, feeling no pleasure in favourite activities, feeling tired easily, thoughts of suicide, exclusive drinking, using drugs, engaging in high-risk activities.
• It can reduce sexual desire and lack of sexual performance.
• Difficulty completing various tasks, lack of concentration, delayed responses.
• Restless sleep, excessive sleeping, no sleeping at night, insomnia.
• Pains, digestive problems, headache, fatigue.

Symptoms in Women
• Irritability.
• Hopeless, anxious, empty.
• Loss of interest in various activities, lack of social engagements, suicidal thoughts.
• Talking and thinking slowly.
• Difficulty in sleeping in the night or sleeping too much.
• Low energy, fatigue, appetite change, pain, headache, etc.

Symptoms in Children
• Mood swing, anger, crying.
• Feeling incomplete, crying, sad.
• Refuse to go to school or trouble in school, avoiding siblings and friends, suicidal thoughts.
• The difficulty of sleeping or sleeping too much.
• Low energy, digestive problems, appetite change.

Causes of Depression

Brain Structure
The frontal part of the brain can cause this problem if it is less active. It increases the risk of developing depression.

Family History
People may suffer depression if his or her family has these sorts of history. I mean, if your family had a depression history, you may also suffer it.

Childhood Trauma
Various events of your childhood can also cause depression.

Medical Condition
Many medical conditions such as insomnia, chronic illness, and chronic pain can cause depression.

Drug Use
Using certain types of drugs also increases the risk of depression.

Major Depression
If you develop this type of depression, you will constantly experience sadness and a lack of interest in various activities.

Persistent Depressive Disorder
It is also known as dysthymia, and its symptoms can last for a minimum of 2 years. The person with this condition may experience milder symptoms long with major depression symptoms.

Bipolar Disorder
Various researches show that people with this depression may experience symptoms around half of the time.

Psychotic Depression
This type of depression shows symptoms like delusions such as detachment from reality, false beliefs, hallucinations, etc.

Postpartum Depression
This type of depression is common in women who gave birth to a child. That is because, after childbirth, a certain hormonal change happens on their body that is responsible for a mood swing.

Major Depressive Disorder with Seasonal Pattern
This type of depression occurs during winter and fall and related to the reduction in daylight. That’s why it is called the SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder.
