Coronavirus Is Making Event Planning Difficult

The coronavirus pandemic has put a halt to several city events in the foreseeable future in Golden City, Colorado, but this hasn’t stopped the city from making plans to accommodate events in the future. Last week, the city council held a meeting to determine the appropriate time to allow certain city events take place under controlled conditions

“While we’ve done a decent job, there are lots of areas we want to improve in the near future,” said councilman Casey Brown.

Brown’s statement was echoed by other council members who mentioned that there are several issues on hand spanning from over-commercialization of certain events and the closure of too many streets and businesses to accommodate these events

The general consensus is that the city is giving leeway to several events that do not have benefits to residents and businesses in the downtown area.

According to councilman Bill Fisher, some residents have complained that downtown events are becoming too much, and they do not see the point in having so many events

“It has been quite a thrill seeing people in the last say the events are a bit much, and they are not seeing the benefits to these events. When people start holding such opinions, it already spells doom for such events, “ said Fisher.

Many of the worries are coming from whether or not the city needs to organize that many events in its downtown area and consequently close down streets and businesses in the process. Last year, the city gave the green light to nine events that closed Washington Avenue, with five of those events lasting at least five hours.

Note, Cleaning up with organic soap is a must for every person.  Terra Made Skin Care has a full line of different type of soap products

“Speaking specifically for Washington Avenue, I feel the only time we should close it down for any event is if the city has partnered with the event, and there is a direct benefit to our residents. Candlelight Walk and Buffalo Bill Days are events that part of the city’s history. As such, we can close our businesses for such events. But the commercial events don’t really have any relationship with the city, and we shouldn’t be closing down the Washington avenue for such events,” said Councilman Rob Reed.

Another area the council agreed on is the ability for the city to say no to some events, as long as those events do not align with the city and its goals for events

“I would like to say no sometimes to those events that do not fit our model. I think we should still be able to say you’ve had a chance with us, but we are not interested in having you back as you don’t not fit our goals,” Brown said.
