Challenges You May Face While Living in a PG in Delhi and How to Solve Them?

The national capital also happens to be one of the most populated and busiest cities in the world and Delhi sees a daily influx of people trying to carve a space for themselves in the city. Students and working professionals form a significant part of this population and to cater to their accommodation needs, the city has an equally large number of hostels and PGs. In fact, most young people who migrate to Delhi to pursue higher studies or work, end up living in PGs or hostels designed specifically for this purpose. With so many accommodations operating in a similar fashion and offering similar services, it can be quite difficult to find the right PG for your purpose. If you are planning to live in a PG in Delhi, here are some things you might have to adjust to:

Culture Shock
Considering how diverse and rich our country is in terms of linguistic and cultural influences, moving even a few hundred kilometers away from one’s hometown can expose you to a completely different lifestyle and culture. Delhi, as a cosmopolitan hub, which is a potpourri of local and migrant influences, hits you quite differently. You can get quite overwhelmed during your initial days in the city and it could take you a while to get used to your surroundings. But as much as adapting to a new city and its quirks is a challenge, a bigger one is if the place you pick to rent also turns out abysmal. Language barriers, landlord issues can sometimes make you go for a deal that seems relatively cheaper but has a catch. As localities in the city can significantly vary from each other, without proper background check you might end up in a place far from your college or work with poor food quality and amenities. To circumvent this, you should pick professionally managed accommodation. These have an online presence where you can check out offerings, and check user reviews, which increases accountability.

Sharing your Space
Sharing your space with random strangers can seem very intrusive but, in most PGs, you might need to share space (rooms, bathrooms, common areas) and amenities with others. While this is one of the quintessential PG experiences, it can take a bit of getting used to, especially if you are moving out of home for the first time. Of course, if you choose a managed accommodation, you also have the option of picking private spaces (single occupancy rooms with attached bathrooms) or even well-designed sharing rooms, while interactive areas like dining spaces, terraces, entertainment lounges etc are built for common use. That can be a good blend between privacy and community time. Another easy way to make the most of this experience is to socialize with the people around you. Interacting with your hostel or PG mates will help create a friendly atmosphere that will in turn help you ease into the transition from home to hostel.

Professionally managed accommodations like Stanza Living (visit website) offer the choicest spaces in the most reasonable prices. A place in a good locality in Delhi, well connected to the metro and other public conveyances can be quite difficult to find. Safety and security are paramount and with managed living spaces, you get state-of-the-art security systems along with guards and CCTV surveillance. A well managed space also takes away a lot of reservations you might have about privacy and adaptability. The right living space allows you to grow and be productive while allaying your worries about your daily needs like cleaning and laundry services.
Delhi can be an intimidating city but if your living arrangements are taken care of, it shouldn’t take you very long to adapt to it.
