HONG KONG.- Phillips announced the second edition of 24/7, an online-only sale featuring contemporary art, limited editions and photographs. Launching live on 9 October and closing on 19 October, 24/7 will offer 120 lots including works by established, in-demand artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Yoshitomo Nara, Banksy and KAWS, as well as a strong selection of works by rising stars such as MR., Buff Monster and Matt Gondek. Further 24/7 highlights include a group of works by trending South East Asian artists such as Marina Cruz, Roby Dwi Antono and Alex Face.
Delissa Handoko, Head of Online Sales, Hong Kong, Phillips, said, Following the success of Phillips two cross-category online auctions assembled by our Asia team this year, we are excited to present the second edition of 24/7. The first 24/7 sale launched in October 2019 and was a resounding success, achieving an impressive sell-through rate of 97%. The present edition of 24/7 features a broad spectrum of works, styles and price points that reflect contemporary collecting trends in one digital space. Building on that momentum generated since last year, 24/7 presents something new for seasoned collectors and new clients alike.
Leading the sale is Yayoi Kusamas Citrouille (II), an Hors Commerce edition that is the rarest of all edition types, typically made for the artist or the printmaker. Other notable highlights include woodcuts by Yoshitomo Nara. Each executed in a very small edition runs of 50, Broken Treasures and My Little Treasure feature the artists signature melancholic children, whose expressions betray a curiously adorable yet complex range of emotions. The sale also offers a unique early work by MR., created two years after the artist graduated from Sokei Art School, and only a year after having been discovered by Superflat icon Takashi Murakami.
Collectors and art lovers in Hong Kong will be able to view the highlights at K11 MUSEAs new K11 Art & Cultural Centre from 9 to 18 October alongside Keith Haring: Falling Up, a selling showcase dedicated to the legendary American pop artist Keith Haring. Bidding opens on 9 October 12am HKT and will begin closing on 19 October at 6pm HKT. The entire sale will be available to browse on Phillips.com.
