SYDNEY.- The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia announced the appointment of three new board members. Joining the MCA Board are Bridget Grant Pirrie, Anthony Medich and Dr Danie Mellor.

MCA Chairman, Cav. Simon Mordant AO, said of this appointment: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the appointment of Anthony, Bridget and Danie to the MCA’s Board of Directors. They are all long-time supporters of the MCA and with the current circumstances impacting the industry, the MCA will require strong leadership and direction. We welcome their individual experience, expertise and insight for the Board and the wider Museum.”

Anthony Medich is an investor who heads up the Medich Family Office. Medich started his career working as a property manager for the family business looking after the group’s portfolio of commercial properties in Western Sydney. He then went on to expand family’s interests interstate as well as growing its farming and hotel activities. Medich is also the co-founder and director of the Medich Foundation, an organisation which supports a range of not-for-profit businesses in various fields such as medical research, the arts and community engagement. He is a collector and currently sits on the MCA Foundation Council.

Grant Pirrie is major sponsor and philanthropist contributing to the Venice Biennale, Biennale of Sydney, Art Gallery of New South Wales and the MCA. She currently sits on the MCA’s Director’s Circle.

Danie Mellor is an established contemporary Australian artist who lives and works in Bowral in New South Wales. His multidisciplinary practice explores the intersections of contemporary and historic culture and his work is held in regional, state and national collections, including the MCA Collection and international museums including the National Gallery of Canada, The British Museum and the National Museum of Scotland. He has won several major awards, including the 26th National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Award in 2009.
