Bohdan Osyczka, Pure watercolor on 100% rag paper.
KATONAH, NY.- The Katonah Museum of Art presents Bohdan Osyczka - In the Mary Taylor and Samuel F. Pryor, Jr. Gallery, through April 17, 2005. Over a period of 50 years, abstract artist Bohdan Osyczka has produced an impressive body of work through his consistent explorations in watercolor. He began in the late 1940s with painterly landscapes, and progressed to abstract compositions that were larger, freer, and bolder in technique. Osyczkas paintings, colorful and spontaneous, evoke associations with Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting. Jeffrey Wechsler, Senior Curator at the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum of Rutgers University, has written an essay that will be published in a brochure created to accompany the exhibition.
