How Famous Painters Used to Work

Famous artists have created wonderful works that have managed to amaze their observers throughout history. If Dali would have been alive today, he would manage to read a product review on silverlakefarms.com and transform it into a work of art. Undoubtedly, they had sparkles of genius that made their art immortal, but what was their routine?

Salvador Dali
You can recognize the works of Dali anytime, anywhere, anyplace and, at the time they became popular, they were very original. They still are, but he was an innovator when it came to painting. His personality was amazing too and he had a really interesting way of thinking and living. If you haven’t read his book ‘Diary of a genius’, you should definitely do so.

Dali used to consider himself as being a genius. Therefore, he lived his life believing that everything he painted would be a success because never before had anybody the idea he thought of and never before had anybody used the perspective he used. This is why he cherished his works the same way he used to cherish Gala, his wife.

He used to wake up in the morning and work all day only to make his work beautiful and portray his ideas in a way that nobody has ever done before. He was eccentric and liked to live his life in a nonconformist way. He used to pursue any crazy idea that came to his mind, that is why he had an elephant skull collection on the island he lived on.

His secret was never doubting what he was doing. He always thought that he created perfection and that is why he never delivered poorly. He rose up to his own expectations, that is why his work continues to amaze people.

Pablo Picasso
Picasso’s journey was a little bit different. He didn’t start painting in the same technique that made him so famous. He actually started to paint realistically and experimented with different styles. He believed that you can not access inspiration whenever you want to and that you have to be constantly working to find that moment of genius that will make a good painting.

He has a famous quote that sums up everything about his work and artists and people who love art will definitely be able to connect. He once said ‘everything that you can imagine is real’. Living his life believing that, it is no wonder that he managed to be an innovator and create such beautiful pieces of art.

He did not control his imagination, he let his imagination control his work and he did a pretty good job. He never stopped playing with art and, at some point, he also played with collage and sculpture.

Michelangelo Buonarroti
Michelangelo was a real genius, especially for those times when the painting and sculpture techniques were not really popular and you couldn’t find information about them everywhere. Michelangelo was a very ambitious person. He believed that with hard work come great results and he always wanted to portray himself through his work.

Throughout his life, his ambition was to become better than he was and knew that this could not have been done without working hard. He didn’t sleep much and when he was in the creation mode where he used to focus all of his attention on what he was doing. He wasn’t interested in changing his clothes and he used to wear the same clothes for weeks in a row.

Vincent Van Gogh
Van Gogh was one of those painters whose work was not appreciated during his lifetime. Even though he created 900 paintings, during his lifetime he managed to sell only one. He was not fond of studying and structuring a painting in the way that everyone was taught. He just wanted to express his feelings through painting.

That is why he spent most of his time creating rather than practicing, this probably being the reason why his work was not appreciated during his lifetime because it was different. This was his main preoccupation, to express his soul through his paintings and put his soul on canvas, rather than do what everyone else was doing.
