HAMPSHIRE, UK.- ArtSway announced this years ArtSway Open Exhibition titled commonground. Artists from around the UK have responded to the opportunity to exhibit their work at ArtSway, submitting work for selection. The exhibition will feature the best of the submitted work (including painting, print, sculpture and new media) selected by Mark Segal, Director of ArtSway and Esta Mion-Jones from Southampton City Art Gallery.

The exhibition encourages artists to consider all aspects of the notion of commonground. Their response will range from traditional landscape where the notion of commonground is tackled, to a more abstract or conceptual approach, where the artist deals with political agreements or cultural or social spaces. Any medium or style is accepted and it is anticipated that commonground will include a wide variety of work, illustrating the broad range of contemporary practice currently being produced by artists around the UK.

One artist selected for the exhibition will be awarded the prize of a small solo exhibition at ArtSway in 2005. This is a unique opportunity for an artist to show work in a professional environment, and to receive the support and marketing this includes. Julia Polonski, winner of last year’s open exhibition View, had a successful show at ArtSway in September of this year, affording her career a significant boost as a professional artist.

Most of the work in commonground is for sale, which means that the exhibition is an excellent opportunity to buy high quality art for affordable prices.
