| McCormick Tribune Foundation To Build Museum |

CHICAGO.- To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the McCormick Tribune Foundation plans to build a public museum to honor the legacy of its founder: Robert R. McCormick. The museum is dedicated to ideals McCormick Held dear: America's freedoms - the First Amendment rights in particular - and the civic responsibilities that accompany those freedoms.
The museum, which opens in the spring of 2006, will be located within the historic Tribune Tower in the heart of Chicago.
As part of the venture, the foundation has launched a major competition - open and international - to find a signature work of art for the museum. The artist's commission for the final work is significant: at least $100,000, excluding fabrication costs. What's more, the chosen artwork will become the museum's centerpiece and central exhibit. Thousands of visitors will see it each year.
The deadline for the competition is now February 15, 2005. See Art Competition section for more details and competition requirements.
The museum is also holding a competition to choose the museum's name. The McCormick Museum naming competition closes December 1, 2004 at 5pm Central. See Naming Competition section for more details and competition requirements.
