Reality Show at The Arts Center of the Capital Region |
|

|
TROY, N.Y.- The Arts Center of the Capital Region presents Reality Show, through February 27, 2005. Realism is the description of the ordinary observed world. Rooted in the traditional format of portrait, still-life and landscape, this exhibition of work by contemporary artists James Dustin, Cynthia Greig, Linda B. Horn, Lynn Itzkowitz, Michele Iverson, Nate Larson, Thomas OConnor, and Deborah Zlotsky challenges the viewer to think beyond the ordinary, to a world in which we are constantly asked to question what we are seeing and reading. With the growing number of reality and crime investigation shows, surveillance, real-time video and misinformation retrieved through the Internet, this exhibition will present work rooted in the real but transformed. Contemporary realism transcends the real to a place where we investigate objects, question spaces and scrutinize faces.
