AMSTERDAM.- The Illuminade walking route is officially opened. The theme of this year's art route is Biomimicry: Think like nature. The historic Weesper and Plantage neighbourhood houses 23 innovative artworks along a 2.3 kilometre walking route. These artworks invite visitors to be amazed by the ingenuity of nature. The Illuminade walking route can we visited until January 8, 2017 and is freely accessible. At the same time the festival has opened its new Call for Concepts. An annual call for new and innovative concepts for the 2017-2018 festival edition.
Rogier van der Heide, artistic director of Amsterdam Light Festival: "The Illuminade is our artistic incubator. Talented artists experiment with forms, patterns and structures that are found in nature and combine this with modern lighting technology. We are keen to display the many solutions nature has to offer different branches like: construction, energy and technology."
Call for Concepts 2017-2018
Amsterdam Light Festival has launched the Call for Concepts for the next edition. From artists to designers, engineers to architects, and professionals to students, the festival invites creators from around the world to submit their creative ideas around the theme EXISTENTIAL. Amsterdam Light Festival
The city centre of Amsterdam will be the atmospheric décor for the fifth edition of Amsterdam Light festival, for more than 50 days, until January 22, 2017. The festival shows colorful light sculptures and projections from national and international artists. Apart form the placement of light art on the boat route Water Colors (theme: A View on Amsterdam) and the Illuminade walking route (theme: Biomimicry, inspired by nature), a variety of other activities will be organized.
