HALIFAX.- Following the recent introduction of online services, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is expanding its digital reach with the launch of an exciting new blog. Inspired by its continual desire to engage people with art, the publishing platform will take a storytelling approach in showcasing the individuals, artworks and efforts involved in bringing the Gallerys world-class exhibitions and programs to life. Operating as an extension of the Gallerys main website and accessible at
www.artgalleryofnovascotia.ca/blog, the blog will provide entertaining and thought-provoking content aimed at a broad audience, including in-depth op-eds, lively interviews and eye-candy in the form of large-format images from its Permanent Collection.
With the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia focused on its vision for the future, launching our own publishing site was the next natural step for us, said Sarah Fillmore, the Gallerys Chief Curator. Beyond our incredible exhibitions and programming, theres the magic behind the countless elements needed to bring everything together. There are many interesting stories in every part of what we dothings that help illustrate what the visual arts contribute to people, to communities and to our provinceand this platform will offer access to all of that. Were thrilled to share a new place for discovery, discussion and debate that will move beyond physical borders to offer a window into the Gallery to all.
Titled Beyond the Frame, the comprehensive blog will publish several times weekly and is categorized into sections:
Focus: featured op-eds and articles on anything & everything art-related

Weve been working on communicating in a way that encourages genuine enthusiasm and that will interest our loyal supporters as well as new audiences, said Camille Dubois Crôteau, Communications and Marketing Officer. Through Beyond the Frame, you can truly enjoy a few moments of reading pleasure while learning about whats special at the Gallery. And of course, it was designed so that all articles and images can be easily shared, so people can take our content and post to their own social media pages to keep the conversation going.
The blog follows the Gallerys rollout of new digital offerings in recent months, including the purchase of memberships, online donations, plus registration for March Break art camps , now all available through its website. An online shop will follow within the month, featuring a wide selection of fine products, plus the ability to purchase tickets to Gallery events.
