NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s announces highlights of a sale of Important American Furniture, Outsider and Folk Art taking place on September 24, 2015, in its New York Rockefeller Center galleries. The 117 lots will be on view in Christie’s Rockefeller Center galleries September 19 – 23, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (1 – 5 p.m. on Sunday).

 This Portrait of George Washington is based on the “Athenaeum” portrait that Gilbert Stuart (1755-1828) painted from a live sitting with the President in 1796, which is now owned jointly by the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Along with the Hamilton bust, listed below, it is one of 25 lots from Credit Suisse’s Americana Collection. (est. $200,000 - $300,000)
