SINGAPORE.- Ode to Art presents 20 Years of Art: Retrospective by Hong Zhu An. This exhibition features his 20 years journey of art and is a celebration of the artists accolades and time spent in Singapore.
Trained under the famous art scholar Wang Zidou, Hong is an artist that has mastered both Western and Chinese art. He has studied almost every aspect of art, from painting to ceramics, sculptures to textiles and even fashion design. This show is a collection of his best works and a reflection of his vast academic background.
Hong's works cannot be replicated. He combines both calligraphy and paint in his artworks a blend of east and west techniques. Hong has a deep love of the line and he understands its importance as a fundamental of Chinese artistic expression. Behind each art piece are a myriad of layers, each consisting of thousands of calligraphic strokes. He places stroke after stroke on rice paper, and they come together to create a splash of colours.
Hong works primarily with acrylic and ink. His artworks exude a serenity and energy that calms the mind. Insightful abstract interpretations and enchanting visuals are his trademarks. His works, each sui generis, reveal the beauty of the world, life and man.
Hongs works are well-loved by many top CEOs of MNCs, professionals and more; and have been collected by major institutions such as the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Singapore Art Museum. A fine artist who calls Singapore his home, Hong has exhibited his works across Southeast Asia, USA and Australia. His achievements include the UOB Painting of the Year Grand Award.
