Installation transforms headquarters into the largest analog television in the world
"Bad Reception" was created using wheat-paste, paint, PVC, silver, foam knob sculptures (6 ft. in diameter), data mosh projection mapping, and hoodlum sculptures.

LOS ANGELES, CA.- Los Angeles based artist Aaron Axelrod has executed a full building artistic takeover installation transforming DJ Skee's Headquarters known as the world famous Skee Lodge into possibly what is the world's largest working analog television measuring 45 ft. x 25 ft.. This installation entitled "Bad Recption" was commissioned for the launch of DJ Skee's new TV show "SKEE LIVE" which recently premiered on Mark Cuban's network AXStv. Axelrod created this groundbreaking masterpiece in a span of 24 hours and will be on display until at least the end of August 2013. After sundown every night a high-powered projector will be streaming vibrant imagery on the building's surface creating what Axelrod calls an "imagination station".

"Bad Reception" was created using wheat-paste, paint, PVC, silver, foam knob sculptures (6 ft. in diameter), data mosh projection mapping, and hoodlum sculptures. This is the third full building activation Axelrod has created with DJ Skee at his headquarters. The first project entitled "Greatness Doesn't Ask Permission" was a techni-color landmark display of lasers and full mannequin SWAT Team followed by "CIA Black Site" involving a camouflage immersed motif draped with military netting; have started off the series which has been a truly unique exhibition of public art in Los Angeles.

Axelrod's interests lay in the ideas of social interaction, psychedelia, and sexuality. A graduate of CalArts, his work has been displayed in galleries and public spaces in cities across the country. Collaborations have included projects for KCRW, Disney Imagineering, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, TOMS, Coachella, Vans, LA Sheriff's Department, Skee.TV and Google to name a few. Axelrod is currently an artist in residence (AIR) at the Vortex Dome recently premiering his immersive exhibit entitled "Melting Rainbows". He lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
