Snite Museum of Art Presents Rembrandt Etchings from the Feddersen Collection

NOTRE DAME, IN.- This exhibition of 20 works provides another rare opportunity to study the exceptional collection of Rembrandt van Ryn etchings that were donated to the museum by Mr. & Mrs. Jack Feddersen. As these master works on paper are extremely sensitive to changes in light and environment, the museum only places the collection on view every three years. Rembrandt is often regarded as one of the greatest artists of his time as well as one of the most gifted and innovative printmakers and The Feddersen Rembrandt collection ranks among the most important gifts the museum has ever received.

The collection, containing 72 of the some 300 etchings Rembrandt produced, includes almost all of the master's religious narrative prints as well as an important early self-portrait of the artist. The prints date from the earliest years of the master's career to works from his late mature period.

The Snite Museum of Art is located on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, near South Bend, Indiana. Museum hours are 10 am to 4 pm, Tuesday and Wednesday; 10 am to 5 pm Thursday through Saturday; and Sundays 1 pm to 5 pm. Admission is free. Museum information is available at 574.631.5466 or at the Museum’s website: www.nd.edu/~sniteart/.
