LITTLE ROCK, AR.- The
Arkansas Arts Center will present a “conversation” with Jamie Bennett as part of the Friends of Contemporary Craft annual lecture series on Sunday, January 18, 2009, at 6 p.m. in the Arkansas Arts Center Lecture Hall.
Bennett, whose use of highly saturated color has transformed the enamel jewelry world, will discuss how the work of metalsmith Robert Ebendorf and non-western traditions influenced his development as an artist. He will also discuss his works in the Arkansas Arts Center exhibition Edge of the Sublime: Enamels by Jamie Bennett.
The exhibition Edge of the Sublime: Enamels by Jamie Bennett, is on view through February 22, 2009, in the Winthrop Rockefeller Gallery. This mid-career retrospective highlights accomplished and meticulously crafted works produced by the artist since 1977. The show features 100 jewelry pieces, paintings, enameled wall reliefs, drawings, sketches and notebooks. Edge of the Sublime: Enamels by Jamie Bennett is sponsored by John and Robyn Horn, Windgate Charitable Foundation and Marion W. Fulk.
